From the Editor (Issue 62)

Welcome back, dear readers, to The Beer Connoisseur’s Fall 2022, Issue 62. As the calendar flips over to September, many people are already pondering some of the most important questions that the season produces: How many leaves will I have to rake? Will my football succeed this year? What will my child’s Halloween costume be? What will my Halloween costume be?

While we might not be able to aid you with any of those questions per se, this edition promises to bring you a bevy of fascinating stories on a variety of topics – including bevvies themselves.

Our cover story focuses on the booming film industry in Georgia and elucidates how Georgia has coaxed film companies to produce their films here. In the story, Kurt Spurlock lists notable past and future productions in the state – as well as memorable beer appearances in Georgia films.

Just like last issue, we detail some high-scoring beers that are perfect for the fall season. Then, we feature a selection of “What We’re Drinking Now,” which highlights some wonderful brews that we’ve reviewed in years past.

We highlight Pontoon Brewing’s fun Halloween-themed Nightmare Fuel fruited sour via a conversation with head Brewer Chris Baratz. This blood-red brew is sure to be a treat for spooky holiday parties.

One of the most entertaining beer festivals in the U.S. takes place every weekend in September in the north Georgia mountains of Helen – Oktoberfest! The 2022 rendition of the event marks the 52nd annual occurrence of the festive occasion.

A brewery tour of Mutation Brewing in Sandy Springs, Georgia follows that up. This up-and-coming brewery crafts a wide range of styles – including the tart South American chicha style. Following that, we feature a fun pancake recipe that features everyone's favorite beverage: beer!

Something is always going on in the world of beer, and two news stories piqued our interest over the past few weeks. First off is Flying Dog Brewery and Stranahan’s Whiskey collaborating to release a beer and a whiskey in honor of the founder of both businesses: George Stranahan, a self-penned “pilgrimosopher.”

Then, after COVID shuttered them in 2020, Stoudts Brewing Co. in Pennsylvania returns this year thanks to help from fellow brewer Evil Genius Beer Co.

We sincerely hope you enjoy this issue, as it wouldn’t be possible without the support of you, our dear readers. After you rake those leaves, you will have earned the right to sit back, relax and crack open this issue of The Beer Connoisseur magazine.

Cheers!
