Heide Brandes is an award-winning journalist, travel writer, and editor with over two decades of professional experience. Her work has appeared in top-tier national and international publications, including National Geographic, BBC Travel, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Forbes, and United Airlines Hemispheres. Heide’s writing spans travel, culture, business, and lifestyle, and she has served as the Oklahoma correspondent for Reuters News Service. She also contributes regularly to niche and regional outlets like Cowboys & Indians, OutdoorX4 Magazine, and TrailGroove Magazine.
In addition to her journalism career, Heide is an accomplished public speaker and writing instructor, frequently presenting to universities, professional organizations, and writers’ groups. She holds numerous accolades for her writing and previously worked in media relations for nonprofit organizations. Currently, she serves as Vice President of the Society of Professional Journalists Oklahoma Pro Chapter and is an active member of the Society of American Travel Writers, Outdoor Writers Association of America, and the North American Travel Journalists Association.
