Blood Orange Berliner-Weisse

Blood Orange Berliner-Weisse by Goat Island Brewing is a Berliner Weisse with blood orange and was judged as a Fruit Beer (BJCP sub-style 29A). It poured golden-orange and mostly clear with only a slight haze into the glass, forming a thick, well-retained white head. Its aroma featured pleasant hop bitterness, orange esters and a light lactic sourness contributed to by its Berliner Weisse base. The flavor profile likewise contained the same combination of assertive hop bitterness, mild lactic sourness and orange and raspberry esters common to the blood orange fruit. The overall effect was a highly refreshing, well balanced, low-alcohol fruit beer that will appeal to lovers of the Berliner Weisse style and to those who favor fruit-forward session beers.
