Lil' Juicy Hazy Juicy IPA by Two Roads Brewing Co. was judged as a Hazy IPA (also known as a New England IPA) judged via BJCP Category 21C. Hazy IPA was newly added as its own sub-style in the 2021 BJCP guidelines. This style intensifies hop aromas and flavors and focuses on fruity strains, while keeping IBUs at a smooth, drinkable level.

This beer has a soft, malty aroma and subdued fruity hop character. It's pleasant but not as hop-forward as typical in the style, which ought to be quite high. It has a hazy, orange color with a dense, white head. This beer's flavor is assertively bitter with a peppery, resinous quality. The hop flavors and bitterness level are in line with a traditional or West Coast IPA, but do not linger as long. At a glance, Lil' Juicy looks like a spot-on Hazy IPA. However, its hop character, particularly flavor, does not align with the hallmarks of the style. Its bitterness comes of as high for the style, which should be taken down a notch so as not to overpower its flavors and drinkability. The pint can format helps make this a nice IPA to enjoy if you're in the mood for something traditional or West coast-leaning, but it's missing the juicy intensity of the best examples of the Hazy IPA style.
