Description
Who Dat Golden Ale is brewed with pilsner and flaked barley and fermented with a hybrid yeast allowing this beer to ferment as an ale and then condition as a lager to create a crisp and refreshing beer. We added Citra hops and Hallertau Blanc in the kettle to give a punch of fragrant lemongrass, green grape and grapefruit.

Who Dat by Urban South Brewery is a golden ale that falls best under BJCP category 18A Blonde Ale. The beer pours a deep yellow (approaching golden) in color. It has brilliant clarity with a big white head that clings to the glass. The aroma is nicely balanced between malt and hops. There is light toasted grainy and crackery notes and mild but complex fruity hops — grapefruit, white grapes, tropical fruit, lemon and gooseberry. The flavor also has a nice balanced blend of hops and malt with the malt upfront and the hops coming out on the backside with the bitterness/fruit lingering on the tongue. Unfortunately the bitterness does tend to build and get little catty/pithy, though not quite astringent, but there is some light fruity apple, pear-like esters that help mellow it out. This is a very nice example of the style with some solid malt and hop character while being mellow and refreshing.
