Blueberry LMN ADE by Wild Leap Brew Co. was judged as a Style 29A Fruit Beer per the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines.
While its appearance certainly doesn’t remind you of the lemonade stand – hazy faint purple with a quickly suppressed head – but the flavor was well constructed. The effervescent nature of the beer also gave it a playful lightness, all coming together to make a solid kettle-soured ale. While marked as blueberry flavored, that seemed in name and color only, as the rounded lemon taste and light tartness provides the predominant punch for this thirst-quenching, approachable summer-type ale.
While not complex in nature (there I guess is lactose in there somewhere), the restrained bitterness, light alcohol, and spritzy mouthfeel all make a terrific session beer, one that could be enjoyed throughout the day, perhaps recalling the days when you had an unlimited ride pass for the Tilt-a-Whirl, Scrambler, and Round Up.
