Ride Share by Abita Brewing Co. was judged as a Double IPA (style 22A) according to the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines.
A full bouquet of aromas were evident upon initial pour. Tropical fruit notes were dominant and were accompanied by citrus aromas and hints of lime.
This is a hazy IPA, golden in color, with medium-to-low head retention that did not hold up even with a rigorous pour.
The tropical fruity character witnessed in the aroma carried forward into the flavor upon first sip, however it quickly turned somewhat harsh as a result of a high alcohol level and hop bitterness found here.
Medium to full in body, smooth over the tongue followed by an alcohol bite that lingers.
There is lots of pleasant fruity complexity in this beer, yet its distinct harshness detracts from its overall character.
