Panic Button by Monday Night Brewing is being reviewed under the category of #28C (Wild Specialty) of the 2015 BJCP Guidelines. As indicated, this is a sour beer with an amber beer base made with sour cherries and Tahitian vanilla. The pour revealed a nice burgundy or dark red hue that was a bit cloudy with a nice moderate head and carbonation that dissipated quickly. The aroma was very evident with the ubiquity of sourness from cherries. Wonderful. No hints of vanilla, malt nor hops for that matter. Upon first taste the tartness and sourness is quite evident with cherries very noticeable in the flavor profile. Again, Tahitian vanilla is listed here as one of the ingredients, but I didn’t detect any vanilla flavor as it got masked by the intense cherry flavors and sourness. The body and mouthfeel was medium with a light carbonation flavor. Carbonation could have been increased a little bit more in this beer to give it a “sparkling ” aspect to it. The aftertaste is wonderful again, because of the tartness of this beer their is a bit of puckering in the palate, which is inviting in a sour beer. Overall, this is a nicely made cherry sour beer that I can see drinking copious amounts of over the upcoming summer months.
