As I sit down to write this, my inaugural Pint Break, two things occur to me: 1) What a terrific beer this is, and 2)… It’s so cold! I know our East Coast neighbors in New England would love to have only thin wisps of snow on the ground that dissipate swiftly, but we southerners aren’t used to a wind chill of 1°!

One way to warm up (in fact, the only way a Beer Connoisseur should warm up) is with a pristine pour of sultry suds. When I tell people I work at a beer magazine, the first question is always, unfailingly, “Do you drink beer all day?” Now, I can finally reply with yes, yes I do.

NoDa Brewing Company’s remarkable Hop, Drop ‘n Roll IPA (a gold award winner at the 2014 World Beer Cup) is a resiny, citrusy masterpiece that’s notable (or NoDa-ble) for its perfect balance of hops and malt. After a long day at work, it’s always good to unwind with a cold one. Just not too cold.
