Central Valley Brewers Guild Kicks Off Second Annual IPA Throwdown and Debuts Collaborative “Valley Kolschure” Beer
Get ready, Central Valley: The ultimate Hazy IPA Throwdown hits Fresno on July 12th, unleashing a blind-tasting battle of local brewers you won't want to miss!
The Central Valley Brewers Guild (CVBG) is excited to announce the return of its highly anticipated IPA Throwdown series, beginning with the Hazy IPA Throwdown on Saturday, July 12th at Summer Fox Brewing in Fresno. This annual, three-part event showcases the Valley’s top brewers and their best IPAs in a blind-tasting competition open to the public.
From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, guests will enjoy blind flights of Hazy IPAs from nine local breweries, followed by voting to determine the “People’s Choice” winner. Once votes are tallied, guests can enjoy full pours of their favorites and celebrate the winners — including the “First Keg to Kick” award.
Participating Breweries:
• Summer Fox Brewing
• House of Pendragon
• Crow & Wolf
• Burning Sun
• Reborne Brewing
• Two Ravens Brewery
• Incinerati Brewing
• South of Shaw Beer Company
• Full Circle Brewing
“This event is more than a competition — it’s a celebration of our local beer community and the talented brewers that make the Central Valley special,” said Kelsey Lee, Executive Director of the Central Valley Brewers Guild.
In addition to the IPA competition, the guild’s 2025 collaboration beer, Valley Kolschure, will be on tap. This Kolsch-style beer represents what is possible when the beer industry works together to support local craft. Created with generous donations from CVBG affiliate members and suppliers, Valley Kolschure is a symbol of collaboration and community spirit.
Valley Kolschure was made possible by contributions from:
• Grain: Briess Malt
• Yeast: AEB
• Hops: Yakima Valley Hops
• Cans: Core Cans
• Labels: Capital Label Company
• Artwork: Sugar and Pine Co.
