Chuckanut Brewery Brings Oktoberfest Early with ‘Auktoberfest’ Celebration

This year, Chuckanut Brewery is moving its annual Oktoberfest celebration to late August, giving festivalgoers an earlier opportunity to enjoy the brewery’s German-inspired traditions. Dubbed “Auktoberfest”, the celebration will feature award-winning beers, family-friendly contests, games and food during a full day of festivities – with free admission. The event celebrates the coming of fall while taking advantage of the warmer weather expected in late August.
In a press release, Chuckanut Brewery announced that its “Auktoberfest” will take place on August 29th at Chuckanut Brewery, 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington in Skagit Valley.
Traditionally Chuckanut Oktoberfest is the second weekend in September but that’s changing this year to take advantage of better weather. Chuckanut is hoping for warmer, drier weather, for Auktoberfest the last weekend in August on August 29th 11am-8pm. Join this fun, traditional family style Oktoberfest that includes something for everyone.
Contests of strength and skill (Liter Holding), Eye Hand coordination (Hammerschlagen) and more will happen outside or under the big ole tent if the weather does not cooperate. Wear your Oktoberfest costumes and start vocalizing because if you want to enter the Yodeling or Costume contest you’ll be ready!
Chuckanut Brewery’s Auktoberfest encourages everyone to have a good time. Entry is free for all. Besides all the contests and chicken dancing you can also have fun playing garden games and board games. There will be lots to do all day and into the night. And did we mention there will be lots of great biers and food? Chuckanut’s award winning German style biers like Dunkel Lager, Fest Bier, and Kolsch along with Bohemian Pilsner, Polish Grodziskie and some American style hoppy beers will be on tap too and available for toasting. Enjoy Brats, Pretzels and Candies to fill your tummies! Don’t forget to pick up some cans to take home for your own traditional Oktoberfest later in September!
