Good Seed by Gnarly Barley Brewing Co. is a fruited Berliner Weisse and is being evaluated as a Fruit Beer (category 29A based on the 2021 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines). Berliner Weisse (category 23A in the 2021 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines) beers are sharply sour beers noted for their clean lactic acidity; oftentimes, a bready, wheaty character can be noted in the sour, refreshing and well carbonated beer. Good Seed was brewed with blueberries, pink guava and raspberries.

This beer pours maroon in color, is very cloudy and sports a huge pink head. The aroma is prominent raspberry with a light sweetness. The flavor is moderately strong raspberry and lighter guava with a light sweetness; the light sweetness is balanced by a very light sourness. The beer finishes with a light bitterness and a moderate sweetness with raspberry and guava flavors lingering.

Good Seed is a raspberry bomb. Raspberries are at the forefront of the aroma, flavor and finish with a lighter guava compliment in the flavor and finish; the blueberries never made an appearance. The beer has a pleasant sweet and sour balance with the balance more towards sweetness. Seek this one out if you like fruit beers!
