Leder-Hoser Oktoberfest by Low Road Brewing is being evaluated as a Märzen (BJCP 2015 Guidelines Category 6A).

The beer pours with light carbonation and struggles to build a head even with an aggressive pour. This Märzen is an attractive deep copper with good clarity that falls short of brilliant. The aroma is faint overall but indicates a clean lager fermentation with a toasted bread presence from the malt. The flavor follows the aroma with notes of rich Munich malt and moderate hop bitterness to keep it within balance for the style. There is a light caramelized malt presence that adds some residual sweetness and holds the beer back from an ideally drier finish. A light herbal and musky hop flavor are in the background providing balance while allowing the malt to remain highlighted throughout. Overall, this is a good representation of the style and is rewarding for palates that gravitate towards malt-forward lagers.
