Bull Run Lager by Migration Brewing was judged as Style 1B (American Lager) according to the 2021 BJCP Guidelines. The pour revealed a light yellow hue with little to no carbonation and a slight chill haze. The aroma offered a pleasant light sweetness from the malt, along with a hint of corn. The initial taste showed a nice balance between light malt character and the hop presence associated with this style. This is a beer style that is light all around: light in malt, light in hop bitterness, and light in alcohol. It is a style made to be consumed quite easily. The ABV of this beer is 4.5%.
The light sweetness of the malt balanced nicely with the gentle hop bitterness. I also picked up a bit of corn in the flavor, an adjunct that is commonly used in this style. The mouthfeel was light-bodied, and although there did not seem to be a great deal of carbonation in the pour, the result still worked well on the palate. It was not flat, but carbonated enough that it did not register as a flaw. The aftertaste was very nice, with a crisp, clean, and smooth finish. Overall, this was well made for the style and should be especially enjoyable in the upcoming summer months.
