Big Boss Brewing Co. Head of Brewing Operations Seth Adams Talks Big Boss Lager

We spoke with Big Boss Brewing Co. Head of Brewing Operations Seth Adams about Big Boss Lager.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
My favorite aspect of Big Boss Lager is the complexity of the malt backbone. The addition of Munich malt in the brew creates a wonderful bready, cereal character that creates a rich flavor and finish to the clean lager.

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
Definitely. Big Boss lager has a malt backbone to help provide some sustenance, but is crisp enough to quench your thirst. I would go so far to say Tom Hanks would choose this beer over Wilson!

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Traditional Helles featuring bready malt backbone and mild hop finish.

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
When I came to interview at Big Boss this was the first beer I tried. Coming from a predominantly lager-based brewery, I often find evaluating a lager my first basis of a brewery's chops. This beer was bright, clean and crisp with a malt character that I could live off of all year long. Needless to say, I took the job.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Big Boss lager is a very versatile beer for cooking and pairing. The light malt note will pair well with delicate foods like salads or mild pasta dishes, and it can also be used to take the heat away from a spicy dish like Thai food or buffalo wings.
