Bootstrap Brewing Owner and Brewer Steve Kaczeus Talks Wreak Havoc

We spoke with Bootstrap Brewing owner and brewer Steve Kaczeus about Wreak Havoc.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I created it. I develop recipes based on the styles that I like to drink and balance them so that everyone will want to order more than one.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
This beer has so much malt character and reveals different layers of flavor as it warms up in the glass.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
I knew this was going to be a big ABV beer and we were inspired by fun names like Green Flash’s Palate Wrecker so when we thought up Wreak Havoc we fell in the love with the name and it fits this beer perfectly as well. It also left open a great creative freedom for our artists on the can design.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Massively hopped, smooth and delicious Imperial Red Ale.

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Who doesn’t want to drink a smooth delicious Imperial red that has won back to back World Beer Cup medals and comes in a can with a Lion biting a Rhino on the ass?

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Thick hunk of prime rib, medium-rare, with horseradish and a loaded baked potato and creme brûlée for dessert.
