We spoke with Collective Arts Brewing Brewmaster Ryan Morrow about Good Monster.
BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
We have been playing with New England double IPAs through some limited releases and wanted something available year-round. We landed on 24g/L dry hopping of Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic and Amarillo as the best hop combination for this mainstay.
BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
How easy it is to drink for it being 8% ABV!
BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
It’s just going through our list of possible names that we have on hand and feeling out what is the right fit!
BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
It might be great to get through those first few days, but it could also slowly destroy me, and I would assume the island didn’t have cold storage and a forever fresh supply of this brew. Nobody wants hot old DIPAs!
BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Easy-drinking yet eminently hoppy DIPA.
BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
If I'm stuck on a desert island, I just might!
