Crazy Mountain Brewing Co. Head Brewer Ben Nadeau Talks Local's Stash: Raspberry Belgian Style Quad

Crazy Mountain Brewing Co. Head Brewer Ben Nadeau Talks Local's Stash: Raspberry Belgian Style Quad

Who came up with this beer's recipe?
A combination of Oliver, Ross, John and me.

What's your favorite aspect of this beer?
Personally I dig the color, which is a rich combination of brown and purple, but I also have a healthy appreciation for the aroma.

Is this your desert island beer?
Let me put it this way: if I stumbled onto a cooler of these on a desert island, I would be ecstatic. But if I were hand-picking beer to take to a desert island with me, I'd go in a different direction—probably something hoppier with a lighter body, and hopefully there are a million of them.

Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
A vibrant, boozy Belgian with just enough raspberry to party.

Do you know a story—or have a personal story—that revolves around this beer?
We brewed a blood orange tripel months before this and I kind of used that as a jumping off point for this idea. Nappy Roots actually came and did a podcast at our brewery when we had that BO Tripel and they wanted to do a private label of that for SXSW called "Triple Platinum" to celebrate their new album going triple platinum. The timing and logistics didn't work out for that release, but if it ends up going four-times platinum maybe we could find a way to incorporate the quad!

What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Powerful beers—and this is a powerful beer—pair best with powerful foods; so something like a nice steak, cooked medium-rare. If you're a real foodie you could add some blue cheese, shallots, and a raspberry or blackberry gastrique and I'm sure it would be divine.
