East Brother Beer Co. Releases Its Black is Beautiful Imperial Stout

East Brother Beer Co. in Richmond, California has announced the release of its beer that's part of the Black is Beautiful initiative, which is the brainchild of Weathered Souls Brewing Co. in San Antonio, Texas. Full details are below.

I hope you're doing as well as can be expected during these turbulent times. We're holding on; heartbroken for everything going on right now, and really trying to take the time to reflect on how we can support others. We're also feeling a tremendous amount of gratitude for our team, its resilience and our ability to keep doing what we love, which is brewing great beer.

As such, we are releasing the second beer in a series of East Brother's "beers that give back."

Today, we're releasing our Black is Beautiful beer, featuring East Brother's Imperial Stout, a luscious beer with notes of chocolate, coffee and deeply roasted barley with classic English hops.  We'll be donating 100% of the proceeds from this beer to the Safe Return Project. This special release will be available at our Richmond taproom and to-go in growlers. I'm providing more details below.

Black is Beautiful
The Black is Beautiful initiative is the brainchild of Weathered Souls Brewing Company in San Antonio, TX, and is a collaborative effort among the brewing community in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. Through East Brother's special release, we'll be supporting the non-profit Safe Return Project, based out of our hometown of Richmond, CA.

The goal of the Safe Return Project is to empower and increase the visibility of those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system as a whole. By investing in building a base of power at the political, social and economic levels of formerly incarcerated persons across the State of California, the Safe Return Project will address the root causes of poverty and the impact that the criminal justice system has on Black people and communities of color.

On September 4th at 5pm, East Brother will be hosting the 2nd in our Pride & Purpose Community Forum series, with Tamisha Walker Torres, Executive Director of the Safe Return Project, along with current and past men and women who have worked with the SRP. The conversation will focus on the criminal justice system, reintegration after incarceration, and how communities can foster forgiveness and support success. Please join us on East Brother's Facebook page.

East Brother Beer's Community

We love the city of Richmond. The support we've received from our community is what gives us the strength to persevere during this challenging time. We built our brewery to last and we chose to build it in the city of Pride & Purpose. East Brother's Pride & Purpose beer was our first beer to give back, and we're proud to have raised $3,000 for the Richmond Rapid Response Fund, a wraparound initiative that will meet the immediate and ongoing needs of those in our community who’ve been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
