We spoke with the Heathen Brewing head brewer Nate Froehlich about Epitaph.

What is your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
It is fun to see this beer evolve over time in the bottle. This style of beer can be very bold when consumed young, but really comes together with age.  

Where does this beer’s name come from?
We wanted to craft a beer that was good enough to take to the grave, and thus, Epitaph was born.

Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Rich, cocoa powder, black licorice with hints of coffee.

What is a good food pairing for this beer?
Pair bold with bold. Go with a hearty, juicy steak or an aged, creamy cheese.
