La Trappe Hosts King’s Day Celebrations Nationwide On April 27

La Trappe's King's Day celebrations kick off April 27th -- for all the details, see the relase below:

This 200-Year-Old Holiday In The Netherlands Is A Day For Celebration With The U.S.’s Only Dutch Trappist Beer!

Berkel-Enschot, Netherlands (March 24, 2017) – Trappist Brewery Koningshoeven was founded by Trappist monks in 1884. As makers of the first Trappist beer in the Netherlands, the monks use only natural ingredients from an original recipe using traditional brewing methods.

Many of the brewery’s offerings are part of the La Trappe line of beers. All are highly regarded Trappist and Belgian styles, such as the aptly named La Trappe Dubbel, Tripel and the world's first-ever Quadrupel, as well as lighter styles such as Witte and Puur – an organic kölsch-style ale.

Since 1890, The Netherlands has celebrated the national holiday of “Queen’s Day” to mark the birthday of the current Dutch monarch. Referred to as Koninginnedag in The Netherlands, it’s a day of rejoicing and revelry. Of course, that also means great Dutch beer!

In 2013, Queen Beatrix abdicated her throne and was succeeded by her son Willem-Alexander. Due to this change in regal lineage, “Queen’s Day” is now celebrated as “King’s Day.”

The day is highlighted by open sales in the street without permits or taxes, similar to pop-up flea markets, and this is the only day of the year that these types of sales are legal. As such, it is a festive occasion where people are outdoors, excited and in the mood for celebration.

Streets, houses and businesses are festooned with the trademark orange color of Holland, and stellar local beers flow freely. De Koningshoeven extends an invitation for people across the world to celebrate this favorite holiday with them.
