Low Road Brewing Co-Owner and Head Brewer Lynette Shoaf Talks Low Road Brown Ale

We spoke with Low Road Brewing Co-Owner and Head Brewer Lynette Shoaf about Low Road Brown Ale.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I did. We had used this as a base for other flavored brown ales, but this is the first time we brewed it as the base beer.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
The aroma on this beer is amazing. To me it smells like a dark chocolate bar with bits of toffee and nuts. You know it’s going to have complex flavors without being too sweet.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
A lack of creativity while recovering from the effects of Hurricane Ida!

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
This is a beer that was still fermenting when Hurricane Ida hit. We were sure we lost the batch after nearly 3 weeks without power. We were pleasantly surprised with the final result, although duplicating it might be difficult!

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
An aged cheese or a steak would be perfect with this beer.
