Overly Friendly IPA – Holy City Brewing – 92 Rating

Holy City assistant brewer Jack Pitts head brewer Sean Guidera.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I wrote the initial recipe and we have tweaked the dry hop as a group as we have brewed this beer for the past 3 years.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
The aroma for sure. We spent a lot of time finding the hops, amounts, and timing of the dry hop.

BC: Where does this beer’s name come from?
We had an intern when we were developing this beer and I told her to come up with a name, this was one of the 3 she came up with.

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
Probably, it's my go to at my house in cans and on draft when I'm in the brewery.

BC: Can you describe this beer in 10 words or less?
Balanced, hoppy, aromatic, IPA.

BC: Do you know a story – or have a personal story – that revolves around this beer?
Where the name comes from is the best story for this beer.

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
I like it with our Holy City Burger in the tap room. Fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, and bacon.
