Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream Introduces Collaboration Brew with Funkytown Brewery as Applications Launch for 13th Brewing & Business Experienceship

Samuel Adams is excited to announce the opening of applications for its prestigious Brewing & Business Experienceship, an opportunity that has become synonymous with fostering the next generation of craft brewers. Through its philanthropic arm, Brewing the American Dream, the company provides invaluable mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs in the food and beverage industry. Simultaneously, Samuel Adams proudly unveils its upcoming collaboration brew with Funkytown Brewery, winner of the 2023 Experienceship.

At the heart of the Brewing the American Dream program lies the Experienceship, which offers promising craft brewers access to unparalleled resources and guidance. This year, the program will culminate in the creation of a special beer developed in collaboration with experts from Samuel Adams Boston Brewery. The result is a refreshing pale lager boasting a 5% ABV, crafted using San Francisco Steam Yeast and a blend of Motueka and Tettnang hops. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy this limited-edition brew on tap at Samuel Adams Boston Brewery and Pilot Project Brewing in Chicago starting the first week of May 2024.

Rich Bloomfield, co-founder of Funkytown Brewery shared, “Since our win in July last year, we’ve seen our dreams come to life in an indescribable way. The experience we’ve had with Samuel Adams has been transformative for our business and we remain deeply motivated by the recognition and resources Brewing the American Dream continues to provide us.”

Inspired by Jim Koch, the visionary behind the craft beer movement and founder of Samuel Adams, the Brewing & Business Experienceship has been empowering brewers since its inception in 2012. Winners not only have the opportunity to collaborate on a unique brew but also become part of the Brewing the American Dream community, benefiting from ongoing mentorship and support.

As Funkytown Brewery joins the esteemed roster of Experienceship winners, Samuel Adams enthusiastically invites brewery founders to submit their applications for the 13th iteration of the initiative. The deadline for entries is April 10th. Finalists will have the chance to showcase their best brews and personal stories at the annual Crafting Dreams Beer Bash, returning to Boston this year. Here, they will engage with Samuel Adams representatives, media, and beer enthusiasts, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the next wave of craft brewing innovators.

“It has been an incredible journey thus far welcoming Funkytown Brewery into our Experienceship Hall of Fame. They are the epitome of what our program is all about – passionate and hard-working craft business owners with unbelievable ambition,” said Jennifer Glanville Love, Director of Partnerships & Collaborations at Boston Beer Company. “We look forward to continuing our support of their successful journey as we open up our family once again this year to identify a new brewer who is just as deserving.”
