Sun King Announces Return of Three Beers

Sun King Announces Three Beers

Indianapolis, Indiana's Sun King Brewing has announced the the return of three popular beers to its stable of year-round, seasonal and limited releases. First off is Cream Dream, a doubled-up version of the brewery's popular Sunlight Cream Ale, which also manages to fit in with the popular hazy, NE-style IPA trend. This marks the 8th year that Cream Dream has been brewed by Sun King.

After that is Afternoon Delight, a bourbon barrel-aged Doppelbock that's making its seasonal return this week. Lastly, with the start of the MLB season, Sun King has partnered with the minor league Indianapolis Indians to release Indians Lager, a smooth-drinking American Lager that would pair beautifully with a night of watching some AAA baseball.

You may find the full details on each beer from Sun King below.

Cream Dream Imperial IPA

Cream Dream started as an experiment in the early days of SKB, way back in 2009. Co-founders Dave and Clay are hoppy beer lovers and have been always been experimenting with new hops and new techniques to really make them stand out in beer... We designed Osiris to be a lower ABV Pale Ale with a hop punch more like an IPA, which practically makes it a session IPA by today's standards (but we weren't that progressive with our marketing ;).

Sunlight Cream Ale, which was originally created as a summer seasonal, quickly became our best-selling beer and as a fun twist. Dave and Clay decided that what would make our cream ale even more dreamy would be to double its simple, clean malt bill and hit it with a boatload of assertive American hops, and Cream Dream was born!

Cream Dream was initially brewed for the Alpha King Challenge, which is held every year in Denver, around the same time as the Great American Beer Festival, and it is essentially an underground competition for the best hoppy beer in America. We've entered Cream Dream on several occasions and in 2011 Sun King won third place.

The evolution of Cream Dream led us through at least 7 movie-themed sequels before we finally came back around to simply calling it Cream Dream.

Cream Dream is an Imperial IPA with massive tropical flavors of cantaloupe and papaya rounded out with the malt base that forms the backbone of our Sunlight Cream Ale. ABV: 9.1% IBU: 90

Single cans, 2-packs, and crowler/growler fills available at both Sun King locations. ($15 Two-Pack; $8 Single Can; Crowlers to Go $13; Growler Fills $12 32oz or $20 64oz)

Afternoon Delight Bourbon Barrel-Aged Doppelbock

Recently released Sun King King's Reserve, Afternoon Delight, is bourbon barrel-aged Doppelbock infused with the sweet flavors of wood and vanilla from the barrels.

A 2013 Gold Medal Winner at the Great American Brew Festival, the Afternoon Delight is a bourbon barrel-aged Doppelbock with aromas of brown sugar and molasses accentuated with the sweet flavors of vanilla and wood from the bourbon barrels. ABV: 9.6% IBU: 23

You can purchase single cans or 2-packs of Afternoon Delight at both Sun King locations while supplies last. ($20 Two-Pack; $12 Single Can)

Indians Lager - Back In CANS!

It's back...and in CANS! For a limited time, Sun King will release Indians Lager in cans available for purchase at Sun King locations and along our partnership with the Indianapolis Indians (Triple AAA Baseball) at Victory Field in cans and draft.

This is our 7th year of partnership with the Indians! Sun King will host a pre-game celebration, Bike to the Ballpark, and bike ride through downtown Indy for the Indians Opening Night next Friday, April 6th 3pm-7pm.

Tickets are available now for the game!

That's not all that we have planned for the Indians season. Stay tuned for more details regarding Thursday Craft Beer Nights with Sun King and local Indiana breweries throughout the Indians home season.
