The 4 Best Types of Kratom for Your Hangover

FAQ

Here are some common questions about kratom and hangovers.

Won’t kratom further dehydrate me?

Yes. This is an important point that we want to reiterate. Kratom is NOT a cure for your hangover. In fact, it can make your hangover worse because kratom also has a dehydrating effect. That’s why you should use the least amount of kratom you need, and why we recommend only potent, tested products.

This also means the basics become even more important. Drink tons of water, make sure you consume key electrolytes, and get some good sleep the day after drinking.

Can I use kratom daily?

While you can, kratom is most effective when you cycle it, because we build a tolerance to kratom’s effects. It’s best to only use it when you need an occasional pick-me-up, mood-booster, or pain reliever.

Can I use kratom in place of alcohol?

Lots of recovering alcoholics have used kratom to reduce alcohol intake. While we enjoy drinks here and there, alcohol needs to be used responsibly. Kratom may be able to support you if you’re having a hard time managing your alcohol intake.

Is kratom addictive?

Yes. Kratom can be addictive. That’s why it’s best to cycle it, watch your dose, and not combine it with medication or other drugs, including alcohol.

Is kratom suitable for vegans?

Yes. It’s a plant! It’s also gluten-free. All of the products on our list are vegan and gluten-free.

Should I use a Green or Red kratom strain for my hangover?

The effectiveness isn’t based on the strain, it’s based on the alkaloid content. This means the answer depends on the exact batch.

However, red kratom strains have different alkaloid balances which tend to give it less of a stimulating effect and more of a sedative effect, especially at higher doses. So if you don’t need an extra energy boost, red may be a better choice. Again, however, it varies by batch, and that’s why we recommend standardized extracts for your hangovers.

Can I combine kratom with caffeine?

Kratom and coffee are a powerful combination, and a very popular one. In general, they are safe to combine. However, specifically for hangovers we'd advise against it. Coffee is a diuretic which may make you clear floods. This means it may worsen your dehydration.

When you’re already dehydrated, adding two substances that further cause dehydration is pushing the boundaries. Stick with either kratom or coffee in this specific situation.

As always, you should talk to your healthcare provider before taking any new substance. We are not doctors, and we don’t pretend to be them on the internet.
