Westbrook Gose

As a beer connoisseur I’m always trying to spread the gospel of good craft beer to anyone who’ll listen. That’s why it pains me to announce that my girlfriend of almost 2 years does not enjoy beer.

I’ve plied her with Pliny and tempted her with Terrapin, but nothing seems to change her stance. Whenever I offer her a beer, it’s always the same reaction: she’ll take the tiniest of sips, wrinkle her nose in distaste, and stick out her tongue, usually making a light retching noise for good measure.

However, I am proud to say that this seemingly incessant distaste has finally been brought to an end by Westbrook Brewing Company’s Gose.

This saucy brew is very different from the others beers I’ve tried to woo her with. Spicy pepper notes in the nose and a quenching, refreshing tartness in the body make this a highly unusual brew, especially for a beer novice. My girlfriend said it best: “If you hadn’t told me it was beer, I wouldn’t have known.”

I can’t believe I’ve found a beer she actually likes – another craft beer success story!
