Earlier this week, two trailers containing a total of 3,271 cases of Sweetwater brews were stolen from the Atlanta-based brewery. The cases included the brewery's core lineup offerings 420 Extra Pale Ale, IPA, Take Two Pils, along with the recently debuted Goin' Coastal Pineapple IPA, most of which was meant to be locally distributed. As a result, the brewery expects there to be shortages in the coming weeks.
Not long after the theft was reported, 720 cases were found in a nearby warehouse. When questioned, the acting manager of the warehouse claimed to have no knowledge that the beer was stolen. "Guys asked me to off-load it for them, and [they would] be back the next day to pick it up," said the manager. "And that's it."
The beer that was found was under a tarp, which is generally not a standard practice. Regarding the scene, Sweetwater's "Minister of Propaganda" Steve Farace said: "This would be a pretty big red flag to see something like this come in here... And then the guys put a tarp over it so people wouldn't see it."
The remainder of the beer has yet to be found, and as of now, the investigation is still underway.
