California lawmakers have unanimously approved a bill to allow beauty salons and barbershops to serve a complimentary glass of beer or wine with a haircut.
All 79 members of the California Assembly voted in favor of AB1322, which essentially will legalize a common practice. Many barbershops and salons have been serving a glass for quite some time, technically breaking the law.
The only caveats are that the alcohol must be served during regular business hours, for free, and the business must be in good standing with the barbering and cosmetology board. Opponents of the bill worry about the qualifications of those serving the alcohol, and that the law may open up a new avenue for alcohol advertisement and marketing.
However, no one can deny that customers are more likely to be satisfied with their new 'do.
