Melbourne Royal proudly declares the commencement of entries for the esteemed 2024 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA), marking a thrilling opportunity for brewers worldwide. Furthermore, tickets are now up for grabs for the eagerly awaited Trophy Presentation Dinner on Thursday, May 16 – a highly sought-after event that sells out annually under the Melbourne Royal banner.
Renowned as the largest annual beer competition globally, the Melbourne Royal Australian International Beer Awards assess both draught and packaged beer varieties, along with innovative beer packaging designs. With its 30th anniversary celebrated in 2023, the Awards attracted a staggering 2,826 entries from over 400 breweries across 21 nations, underscoring its significance beyond mere libations!
Excellence in brewing transcends boundaries at these Awards, welcoming breweries of all scales – from cozy microbreweries to industrial giants of commercial production. Melbourne Royal serves as a global beacon, providing brewers a crucial opportunity for benchmarking through these prestigious Awards.
In 2024, the Awards vow to deliver an exquisite experience, honoring 11 major trophies, including the highly coveted Champion Australian Beer and Champion International Beer accolades, alongside an additional 24 category trophies.
This year, Melbourne Royal eagerly confirms the return of an international judging panel, following their successful participation in 2023 post the relaxation of international travel restrictions. Further details regarding the panel composition will be disclosed closer to the judging dates.
The 2024 Australian International Beer Awards also introduce several exciting refinements to the program, including two new additions to the 2023 Edition U.S. Brewers Association Beer Style Guidelines: West Coast-Style India Pale Ale and Dessert or Pastry Stout, with New World Lager being bifurcated into Modern Lager and Modern Pilsner.
