Idle Hands Craft Ales out of Malden, Massachusetts has announced the release of two New England-Style IPAs.
Six Seam is a hazy and silky smooth Double IPA and Change Up #12 is a 7.0 percent ABV Oat IPA brewed with Centennial hops. The oats provide a pillowy mouthfeel upon which the lovely hop bill can lounge.
The full release from Idle Hands is below.
Six Seam is still going strong on draft and in 4 packs. The 1 case limit remains in place, so come in and get some before it is gone. Thanks to Caleb Howcroft for this great picture of Six Seam in the wild. If you have any pictures of our beers in the wild, we would love to see them. BREWER'S SPOTLIGHT ON CHANGE UP #12:
To our loyal consumers, I know this is going to look weird shining the spotlight on two IPAs in a row, BUT we just so happen to have another one that we are releasing this week that I'm actually quite excited to share with you.
To shed some light on our uncharacteristic excitement over our most recent hop forward beer; I introduce to you, Change Up #12. This time we decided to take a different approach to our adjunct grains (wheat/rye/spelt/corn). While our Seam series of IPAs balances flaked and malted adjuncts, we've decided this round to lean towards the flaked side, specifically oats. Ever have oatmeal for breakfast? That's the same thing that makes up roughly 20% of the grist of our 7.0% Oat IPA. Providing a hefty dose of protein to our future beer, creating super charged body and mouthfeel, without the sweetness of heavy bodied beers that are derived from residual complex sugars. From there, we decided to take a hop that's been a workhorse for us in so many of our hoppy offerings and put it on display front and center; Centennial. An old school staple hop to so many great IPAs like Firestone Walker's Union Jack, Bell's Two Hearted, Maine Beer Co's Lunch, Russian River's Pliny the Elder and many more. With just a touch of Columbus added to the boil, then we hit this beer hard with Centennial in the kettle and twice more for dry-hopping. Presented as a hazy IPA, known for body, smooth bitterness and massive flavors.
The aroma hits you right away with candied lemon peel, grapefruit rind and fresh cut grass. It sips with bold notes of lime peel up front followed by light hints of pine and grass on the back end of the palate. Perfect for drinking under the sun on a patio or porch. Change Up #12 would pair beautifully with a lobster roll dinner, or a snack of crackers topped with goat cheese and wildflower honey. Kegs are going out this week so keep an eye out for it or ask for it at your favorite pub! We'll be releasing it later this week for pints and Freshies to take home in the Taproom! Cheers! -- Lead Brewer Brett Bauer
