Highland Brewing Co. Unveils Stargazer White

Highland Brewing Co. Unveils Stargazer White

Asheville, North Carolina's Highland Brewing Co., on the heels of a recent rebrand, has announced the release of its first seasonal beer in cans, Stargazer White Ale.

Reaching for the stars in terms of ingredients, Stargazer is packed with coriander, grapefruit peel, candied ginger, Saphir hops and rye to provide the zesty, citrusy twang that witbiers are known for.

Releasing on April 27 from the brewery's tasting room, a special screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will occur, and attendees are invited to "BYOT or bring your own telescope."

The full release from Highland is below.

ASHEVILLE, NC - Summer calls for a bright and balanced white ale in a stellar can. Grapefruit peel, candied ginger, and coriander give a fresh approach to a classic white ale in Highland Brewing’s first seasonal beer in a can. Trace Redmond, R&D Brewer, wanted to mirror the spicy character of the Belgian ale yeast. “In addition to the non-traditional fruit peel, we integrated the spicy characteristics of Saphir hops and rye with the Belgian yeast,” said Trace. “I love the balance in the traditional approach, so we have that and some fun complexity.”

Join the celebration on April 27, where we will screen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in the Tasting Room. When the sun sets, the Meadow will turn into an amateur observatory. Attendees are encouraged to BYOT (bring their own telescope), grab a beer, and look out into the deep infinity of space. We’ll have live music with Bonnie Blue, and food trucks on site.

Highland Stargazer is named for the Stargazer Lily, which grows well in North Carolina and is a relative of the state wildflower, the Carolina Lily. As with all seasonal beers from Highland, the name honors an element of the Southern Appalachian landscape. Each seasonal release party is a fund-raiser for the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, with one dollar per pour donated to SAHC, in support of their permanent land conservation efforts.

About Highland Brewing

Brewing was founded in 1994 by retired engineer and entrepreneur Oscar Wong, establishing it as the pioneer of Asheville, NC’s now booming craft beer industry. With a portfolio that is equal parts established and inventive, Highland is known for consistently excellent beer. Proudly regional, Highland is distributed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky. Annual production around 46,000 barrels makes Highland is the largest independent family-owned brewery born in the Southeast and it has the third largest solar array in an American craft brewery. The brewery is in a rehabilitated manufacturing facility on a hilltop, affording space for thousands of visitors to enjoy limited release beers,

tours, and live music. In addition, the event center and rooftop can be reserved for private events. Today, the company is led by Wong’s daughter, Leah Wong Ashburn, and has 50 full-time employees. More information is at www.highlandbrewing.com.
