Pontoon Brewing's Rainbow Smiggles Trix and Skittles Beer Returns

Pontoon Brewing in Sandy Springs, Georgia has announced the triumphant return of its supremely popular Trix- and Skittles beer Rainbow Smiggles. The original Smiggles sold out in under 45 minutes, and this time the brewery is releasing it online only due to COVID-19. Full details on the beer's release are below.

Sandy Springs, GA - The candy and cereal beer that took the internet by storm in February of 2020 is back! Pontoon Brewing releases the second batch of Rainbow Smiggles, a radically awesome Berliner Weisse that’s like a cereal in beer form.

Rainbow Smiggles Berliner Weisse is a bold take on Pontoon Brewing’s classic sour recipe packed with 500 lbs of Skittles, over 100 boxes of Trix Cereal, 3 lbs per gallon of strawberries and pineapple, vanilla and lactose. The second batch of Rainbow Smiggles is taking it up a notch with 50% more Skittles and fruit than the original. The Skittles and Trix are brought to light with addition of strawberries to give it a fresh fruity taste as well as pineapples to brighten it with some acidity. The two fruits together give a striking similarity to the taste of skittles which further enhances the flavors. Not to mention, fans of the cartoon Rick and Morty will enjoy the label art Pontoon created for this beer! 

“We’re trying to keep the market well provided with interesting new flavors month after month,” says Pontoon Brewing’s Head Brewer, Chris Baratz. “Because of that, we like to push the limits and go to extremes to keep the brewers and customers excited about each new sour.”

The original Rainbow Smiggles sold out in 45 minutes with a line wrapped around the building. With people seeking to Taste the Smiggles all over the country, Pontoon Brewing decided to brew a second batch that would be bigger and bolder than before. Due to COVID-19, Pontoon Brewing is moving sales to online to encourage social distancing. Rainbow Smiggles will be available for pre-sale on CraftCellr on Friday, July 3rd at 7:00pm with a two per person limit. 

Georgia’s market has increasingly been interested in trying new and exciting flavors and Pontoon Brewing has kept up with at least three limited beers distributed each month and many more releases in house. Since the original release of Rainbow Smiggles, Pontoon Brewing has expanded on their distribution and are now available in Orlando and Tampa, Florida as well as Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. Alongside Rainbow Smiggles, Pontoon Brewing is releasing two pop culture inspired IPAs, Grand Theft Otter and Somethin’ Strange 3 as well as an Imperial Dry Hopped Pilsner, OK Zoomer.
