On its 20th anniversary, Blue Moon Brewing Company has announced plans to build a second Denver facility to serve as a pilot brewery, tasting room and event space.
“We just locked down a prime location in the heart of Denver’s rapidly growing RiNo Art District,” said Keith Villa, founder and head brewmaster at Blue Moon. "We founded Blue Moon on a belief that brewing is equal parts art and science. So it's pretty cool that 20 years later we get to design a new brewery in an area where we'll be surrounded by fellow artists.”
This innovation and pilot brewery will include a tasting room, tours and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for events and is tentatively slated to open its doors in 2016. The new location will give the brand two Denver breweries, including the original Blue Moon Brewing Company at the SandLot, located in Coors Field.
A Denver native, Villa founded Blue Moon Brewing Company after earning his Ph.D. in brewing from the University of Brussels in Belgium. Since then the brewing team at Blue Moon Brewing Company and the SandLot Brewery have won a combined 54 medals at the Great American Beer Festival.
