Tropicália

Creature Comforts Brewing Tropicalia IPA

Tropical flavors seem to be a beer theme this season, and we’ve got a peach (straight from Athens, GA) for today’s Pint Break.

Stone Brewing just updated the recipe for its original Ruination IPA by adding Citra, Simcoe and Azacca hops to create a breezy, tropical and very bitter taste profile, but our Pint Break features a much more balanced – yet equally invigorating – flavor palette.

Creature Comforts Brewing Company’s Tropicália IPA is a 6.5 percent ABV journey to somewhere sunny. I can almost feel the salty zephyr on my face and the sun-kissed sands between my toes while I drink this.

Tropicália is one of the juiciest IPAs I’ve ever had the privilege to imbibe, with aromas and flavors perfectly representative of its equatorial name. Ripe passion fruit, ruby grapefruit and all manner of zesty citrus fruits leap out of the glass… and down my gullet.

Creature Comforts just started canning its beers, and Tropicália is currently one of two canned offerings (the other being Athena Berliner Weisse). Ours was newly canned and mouth-wateringly fresh, as IPAs should be, which definitely contributed to my enjoyability.

I leave you with an aptly named track from Beck’s 1998 album, Mutations. No matter where you are on this Earth Day, get outside in the sun, crank up your favorite springtime tunes and get transported into an “equatorial haze.” We’ll be right beside you, Tropicália in hand.
