We spoke with Low Road Brewing Co-Owner and Head Brewer Lynette Shoaf about Port Aged Barleywine.

BC: Who came up with this beer’s recipe?
I did. I like the smoothness that my favorite port-aged bourbon has, so I thought it would work well with the barleywine base of this beer.

BC: What’s your favorite aspect of this beer (flavor, aroma, etc.)?
I definitely love both the flavor and aroma. It would be hard to choose one favorite between them!

BC: Is this your “desert island beer?”
The alcohol content prevents this from being a desert island beer for me. Unless I just wanted to forget I was on a desert island!

BC: What's a good food pairing for this beer?
Cheesecake! Especially one that is not overly sweet.
