Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery to Host New York's First Wet Hop Festival in Collaboration with Hop Growers of New York

In a momentous celebration of New York's burgeoning hop-growing industry, Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery (ILFCB) is set to host the State's inaugural Wet Hop Festival, a vibrant event organized by the Hop Growers of New York. This festival is poised to shine a spotlight on the dedicated hop cultivators across the Empire State, offering a unique opportunity to revel in the fruits of their labor. The three-day festival is scheduled to take place from Friday to Sunday, October 20th to 22nd.

New York stands out as one of just six states in the nation that successfully produces hops on a commercial scale, and it holds the distinct honor of being the only East Coast state to do so. Despite the state's recognition as a top hop grower in the nation, the humid climate of New York presents unique challenges for hop cultivation. This festival, therefore, stands as a testament to the hard work and resilience of the state's hop growers.

The essence of hop cultivation extends beyond mere crop production; it encompasses environmental stewardship, including reducing one's carbon footprint, particularly throughout the crop delivery process to brewers. The Hop Growers of New York, a dedicated nonprofit organization, has made it their mission to provide a structured resource for research, education, best practices, and strength-building initiatives for hop growers across New York State.

“At the heart, we’re hoping that we can continue to be a resource for hop growers across the state and help farmers and brewers increase our production,” said Adam Kryder, Executive Director, Hop Growers of New York. “Events like this help us share information with our trade experts, but also the public, so there’s more of an understanding and future support for our goals and efforts.”

“Indian Ladder Farms is proud to host this one-of-a-kind event to benefit the Hop Growers of New York,” said Dieter Gehring, Co-Owner, Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery. “We grow our own hops on our farm, and have the only hop harvesting machine within 100 miles, so we’ve been helping other local breweries to harvest their hops for years, and understand the importance of this economic driver in our state.”

The festival's itinerary spans three remarkable days, commencing with a VIP Pre-Festival tasting event on Friday, October 20th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. This exclusive gathering invites the public to partake in the festivities. On Saturday, the main festival will run from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., promising a day filled with hop-inspired excitement. The weekend culminates on Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the After Party Kick the Kegs Event, ensuring a grand finale to the celebration.

The festival lineup features a distinguished roster of participating growers, including Condzella Hops, Pedersen Farms, Alta Vista Farm Hops, Crooked Creek Hops Farm, Weathertop Farm and Hop Yard, Indian Ladder Farms, and Skaneateles Hop Farm. Their dedication and craftsmanship will be on full display for festival-goers.

Adding to the excitement, a consortium of renowned breweries will be participating, including Kings County Brewers Collective, Green Point Beer & Ale Co., The Brewery at the Culinary Institute of America, Aurora Brewing Company, Strong Rope Brewery, Threes Brewing, Indian Ladder Farms Cidery & Brewery, Wayward Lane Brewing, Vosburgh Brewing, Green Wolf Brewing Co., Eli Fish Brewing Co., Wagner Valley Brewing Co., Horseheads Brewing, Helderberg Mountain Brewing Company, and Beer Tree Brew Co.
