New York's Brooklyn Brewery, home of famed head brewer and renaissance man Garrett Oliver, has announced plans to occupy a 75,000 square foot production facility, taproom and restaurant at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The company has signed a 40-year lease for the space, with intentions of opening in 2018.
This will mark the first time Brooklyn Brewery has offered "more than pretzels and bratwursts," according to CEO Eric Ottaway, and will act as one half of the company's transition to more cosmopolitan locales – Brooklyn is also working on moving its upstate New York production facility to Staten Island, due to rising rent costs.
