The below referenced ale was rated according to the style guidelines provided by the Beer Judge Certification Program as defined under category 18B (2021) American Pale Ale.
The aroma was decidedly hop-forward with floral and citrus notes that smacked of dry hopping and were accompanied by a sweet fruitiness that lingered and balanced with bready, malty aromatics.
A clear copper-colored beer with a medium-white head and persistent carbonation.
The flavor was not as sharply defined as the aroma profile and seemed somewhat muted. Resinous, lots of fruity esters, pineapple and passion fruit were perceived that seemed to point to the influence of Citra as the dominant hop.
A medium-bodied beer with standard levels of alcohol that led to a firm bitterness in the finish, which was a bit overstated.
A good example of the style with a plethora of (New World) hops to go around.
