The following beer was poured from a 12-ounce can into a 23-ounce Weizen beer glass and reviewed under the style guidelines provided by the Beer Judge Certification Program under Category 10A, German Wheat Beer.
A very fruity bouquet of mixed aromas with no one fruit dominating the profile. These esters were accompanied by sweet wheat-like malt aromatics upon initial pour.
Pale yellow in color with a medium white head. Quite turbid as these beers often are, due to the higher protein contained in malted wheat and the presence of unfiltered yeast.
Both fruity esters and clove phenols were softly perceived, which caused the balance to lean toward a grainy sweetness that understated their presence. A very subtle noble hop-like flavor led to a light dry finish.
The mouthfeel was thin as would be expected for beers brewed with high levels of wheat. A bit underconditioned for the style.
A light and refreshing wheat beer that will serve well for the upcoming summer months.
