Von Ebert Brewing Celebrates 6th Anniversary with Exclusive Collaboration Beers with Firestone Walker

Von Ebert Brewing in Portland, Oregon marks its 6th anniversary this weekend with a grand celebration and the launch of two unique collaboration brews in partnership with Firestone Walker Brewing Company from California.

Renowned for their acclaimed Pilsner Pils and Volatile Substance IPA, Von Ebert Brewing sought to highlight these signature styles in their anniversary collaborations. Harnessing the essence of Yakima Chief Hops 702 extracts, Von Ebert and Firestone Walker have crafted the "6th Anniversary West Coast IPA" and "6th Anniversary German-style Pilsner," set to grace the taps of all four Von Ebert locations and select Portland-area bottle shops.

“For six years, Von Ebert Brewing has been striving to make some of the best beer in the Pacific Northwest and we’re excited that by expanding our production and distribution, we can sell more of our award-winning beer throughout Oregon and into some of our neighboring states with even more 12-ounce packaging beyond Pils,” said Sam Pecoraro, brewmaster of Von Ebert Brewing. “We wanted to celebrate this milestone with our friends at Firestone Walker Brewing Company, who are West Coast craft brewing pioneers and innovators, through collaborations that truly highlight our mutual drive to cultivate a brewery culture of continuous improvement to quench our beer drinkers.”

“I was honored to get the call from Sam to come to Portland to brew with the Von Ebert team. We both have a deep love of Pilsner beer and West Coast IPA. Our brewing styles are very similar, so it just came down to a few process tweaks and picking a couple great hop combinations. It was an easy and natural fit,” said Matt Brynildson, brewmaster of Firestone Walker Brewing Company. “As I expected, the experience was first-class all around and the Von Ebert team nailed the brew. I’d just be happy sitting in the Von Ebert pub sipping on these amazing beers, but to brew with these guys was next level. It was great to integrate some innovative hop products from Yakima Chief in this IPA and it was great to have the Yakima Chief Hops team come in and participate in the collaboration with us. I’m always excited to get back to Portland to check in on the beer scene here. I always learn something, but this collab experience with Von Ebert was super inspirational.”

Starting April 13th, beer aficionados can relish in the anniversary spirit with both draft pours and canned options available at Von Ebert establishments and chosen bottle retailers. The festivities culminate at Von Ebert's Glendoveer location, where Saturday revelers can indulge in specially curated beer and pizza pairings to honor this milestone.

For those seeking a more communal experience, mark your calendars for April 18th, when Wildwood Taphouse in Hillsboro will host a celebratory release event from 4 to 10 p.m. Joining the festivities will be brewers from both Von Ebert and Firestone Walker, ensuring an unforgettable evening of camaraderie and craft brews.

Can't make it to the events? Fear not! Von Ebert's renowned Pilsner is now conveniently available in 12-ounce cans at select Pacific Northwest retailers, allowing enthusiasts to raise a glass in honor of the brewery's remarkable journey.

As part of their expansion strategy, Von Ebert Brewing has acquired a new brewing facility on N. Cook Street in Portland, significantly increasing production capacity from 4,000 to 20,000 barrels per year. The brewery has also commenced sales of 12-ounce cans, with plans to open the N. Cook Street taproom to the public later this spring. With an eye toward broader distribution, Von Ebert Brewing aims to extend its reach across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and select regions of California.

About Von Ebert Brewing

Von Ebert Brewing was founded in 2018 by Tom M. Cook and Tom S. Cook in Portland, Oregon. Von Ebert Brewing is named after the family matriarch lovingly refer to as “Grandma Ebert.” The quintessential immigrant story, Grandma Ebert came to America from Germany via Ellis Island and relied on her grit and determination to create a successful life for her family here in the states. In that vein, the brewery has displayed those same traits and gained success through numerous Great American Beer Festival medals: 2022 Silver German-Style Pilsner with Pils; 2021 Gold American-Style India Pale Ale with Volatile Substance; 2020 Bronze American-Style India Pale Ale with Nothing Noble; and 2020 Bronze and 2019 Gold Specialty Saison with Obeisance. Our moniker celebrates Grandma’s tenacity and honors our heritage. Von Ebert translates loosely to “House of Ebert” or in full English, “House of the Boar.”
