Beer Here: Firestone Walker 2015 Helldorado

Firestone Walker has announced that Helldorado, a blonde barleywine aged in spirits barrels will make its bottled debut July 18.

"Helldorado is made with just one malt, El Dorado hops and the barrels,” said Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “I've resisted the temptation to blend a little something else into it. It's just this really interesting expression of barrels beyond anything else we've done, and I decided that there was no need to mess with it."

The 12 percent ABV brew was named for a trip to Tombstone, Arizona that Brynildson took with his grandfather.

Description

The name originates from an anagram not a pentagram, but the key element of this pre-prohibition style beer is the process of fermenting it with a lager yeast at an ale-like higher temperature. Light copper color from the Crystal specialty malt, it's complimented by Golding hops and Czech Pilsner yeast.

Description

Like a black car with matching rims and tinted windows, this Irish Dry Stout is as dark as it gets. Dehusked, roasted malt gives it the sinister color as well as a smooth flavor with hints of chocolate and coffee. True to style, the malt is balanced by a hoppy, dry-roasted bitterness making it perfectly appropriate whatever the weather.
