After revising its guidelines for what constitutes a craft brewery in 2014, the Brewers Association has announced that under its definition craft beer has grown to a double-digit volume share (11 percent) of the U.S. beer market. Following the addition of small, independent breweries using traditional ingredients such as corn, the BA-defined category of craft beer reached a double digits share of the over-all beer market. Despite recent jabs at beer with multiple flavors in its “Brewed the Hard Way” TV ad, Anheuser-Busch has debuted its newest beer directed at the craft segment, Oculto. The six percent ABV lager is a blend including beer aged on tequila barrel staves, and features packaging designed to react to cold. Here is the release from A-B:
