Uinta Brewing Announces Voluntary Recall of Select 12-Ounce Cans

Uinta Brewing in Salt Lake City, Utah has announced a voluntary recall of select varieties of 12-ounce cans due to the presence of a foreign yeast that can cause the packaging to fail.

"The recall comes after extensive testing by the brewery and external third-party analysis confirmed the presence of the strain of yeast that could cause refermentation in the bottle or can, building up pressure that could cause the packaging to fail," according to a release from the brewery.

Tröegs Independent Brewing Debuts Fresh Cut Mango IPA

Tröegs Independent Brewing in Hershey, Pennsylvania has announced the release of a new seasonal release called Fresh Cut Mango IPA.

Brewed with Simcoe hops and sweet mangos, Fresh Cut is the brewery's spring release in its Hop Cycle series.

The full release from the brewery is below.

HERSHEY, Pa.— Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the release of its rotating Hop Cycle beer for spring, First Cut Mango IPA. Two complementary ingredients – citrusy Simcoe hops and sweet mango – come together to form an IPA greater than the sum of its parts.

With hops in hand and curiosity as our guide, we conjured up the Hop Cycle to explore the possibilities of our favorite flower. Along the way, we discovered that the citrus of Simcoe elevates the delicate sweetness of mango, local rustic malt is the perfect backbone to support a big hop bill, and that – left to shine – Cascade, Centennial and Chinook are classics for a reason.

Each spring, hop growers dust off their pruning shears and trim the first shoots, bolstering the bines for a rich growing season. First Cut – a mouthful of citrusy Simcoe and a touch of sweetmango – is a nod to this ritual, without which the world would be a less hoppy place. Weighing in at 6.2 percent ABV, First Cut is brewed with real mango.

For inquiries about First Cut, please contact the brewery at (717) 534-1297.

Allagash Brewing Co. Releases Sun Drift Brett Beer with Tea

Allagash Brewing Co. in Portland, Maine has announced the release of Sun Drift to its entire distribution footprint.

Sun Drift is a Brett Beer brewed with lemon zest and black tea for a zesty, earth and slightly funky flavor profile.

The full release from the brewery is below.

PORTLAND, Maine — Today, Allagash Brewing Co. releases Sun Drift, a beer brewed with lemon zest, fermented with Brettanomyces yeast, and then blended with black tea. Sun Drift will be available in four-packs of 12 oz. bottles, and will begin shipping out to the brewery’s complete distribution footprint starting Monday, Feb. 4th.

“This beer’s flavor goes beyond the sum of its ingredients,” said Brewmaster Jason Perkins.

Lemon zest imparts a slightly tart note that’s accompanied by a medley of funky tropical fruit flavors created by Brettanomyces yeast. After brewing, the beer is blended with Fair Trade Yunnan Black tea from Little Red Cup, of Brunswick, ME. The result evokes the refreshing combination of lemonade and tea, all cruising on a layer of fruit-filled aromatics.

“Whenever possible, we look for ingredients in Maine,” said Perkins. “That means getting grain from Maine farmers and tea from a local company like Little Red Cup.”
