Rogue Ales & Spirits in Newport, Oregon has announced the debut of a new single barrel project whiskey series. Full details are below.
NEWPORT, Ore. — Rogue Ales & Spirits is proud to announce the launch of the Single Barrel Project whiskey series, a limited-series of one-off single barrels of Rogue whiskey that have been finished in unique ways. Rogue is the only farmer-brewer-distiller-cooper in the United States and because of this, Rogue is able to handcraft innovative products such as this Single Barrel Project at their headquarters in Newport, Oregon.
“After opening our Rolling Thunder Barrel Works cooperage in 2015, we became fascinated with exploring the impact that different types of wood impressed on the flavor, aroma and taste of our whiskeys,” says Jake Holshue, Rogue Spirits Head Distiller. “We created Single Barrel Project as our way to explore that curiosity through finishing Rogue whiskey in unique barrels and uncommon wood varietals, oftentimes in a non-replicable way, and always one barrel at a time.”
After surviving the 2019 Bomb Cyclone at CBC, we needed to make homage with a super fluffy, low IBU hazy IPA. This white IPA has lots of white wheat and flaked oats, and over 5lbs per barrel of Belma and Strata hops, to give notes of young strawberry, lush melon, ripe passion fruit with very mild and refined bitterness on the backend. Soft, light, and fruit-forward from the hops.

This stout pours thick & dense, with a massive malt bill plus oats and lactose for body. Brewed upfront with graham crackers & marshmallows then conditioned on cacao nibs and toasted marshmallows for a complex flavor that works in perfect harmony with the robust malt profile.
