Gravitas Non-Alcoholic Barrel-Aged Bourbon Stout (2021), Bravus Brewing Co.
Description

The world's first non-alcoholic Barrel-Aged Bourbon Stout and medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival. This year's variation is brewed with a huge amount of dark chocolate, black cherries and vanilla beans. Combined with barrel notes of oak, caramel, and bourbon, this is one amazing Stout.
Gravitas is an extremely limited release with only a small amount being produced. Each one is hand-filled in an elegant 16.9 oz wine bottle, hand-crowned and hand-labeled by the masters brewers at Bravus.

Gravitas Non-Alcoholic Barrel-Aged Bourbon Stout by Bravus Brewing Co. is being evaluated as a Specialty Wood-Aged Beer (Category 33B) from the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.

Gravitas Non-Alcoholic Barrel-Aged Bourbon Stout pours black and opaque with lovely ruby highlights when held up to light. The beige head lingers with mixed bubbles. The aroma puts out a prominent malty character backed up with light caramel, light vanilla and light chocolate and coffee. No hop or ester aroma was detected.

The flavor follows with moderate roast, light caramel and a hint of vanilla. Light hop bitterness develops mid-palate and lingers into a medium-dry finish. No esters develop but a light herbal hop flavor hangs out in the background. Moderate carbonation and a medium body rounds out this beer.

This is a well-made non-alcoholic beer -- the malt is prominent and the barrel character is shown through the light vanilla aroma and flavor. The appearance is very inviting. If you are seeking out a non-alcoholic barrel-aged beer, put this one on your list.
