Jameson Barrel Aged Purple Monkey Dishwasher by Evil Genius Beer Co. was judged as a Specialty Wood-Aged Beer.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups meet Irish whiskey and porter. The beer pours a brilliant deep chocolate brown color under a modest light brown cap with moderate retention. A little more creaminess and a little more retention would be icing on the cake. The Jameson cask character, the added peanut butter and the porter base harmoniously work together, letting each aspect show through with no sharp edges. It is all there but nothing is in your face. Chocolate peanut butter candy flavors and aromas complement medium dark malts, toffee and hints of vanilla from the barrel. There is not a lot of Jameson character but the barrel’s astringent oakiness works with the hops to help tone down the sweetness. This is a beer that will appeal to the whole range of beer drinkers from the newbie to the hardened beer geek. This is a dessert beer that is not too “desserty.”
