Unibroue's Blonde de l'Enfer Named World's Best Pale Beer at World Beer Awards

Unibroue in Chambly, Quebec, Canada has announced that its beer, Blonde de l'Enfer, has been awarded the World's Best Pale Beer award by the World Beer Awards.

Brewed in honor of the brewery's 25th anniversary, the World Beer Awards involve 2,300 beers from over 50 countries.

“Winning a WBA is very gratifying, considering that you first have to win a country award, followed by a competition against other countries and continents in a particular style,” says Jerry Vietz, Unibroue Brewmaster, in a release. “So, to prevail through all that and then go one step further to win one of only nine best of class worldwide category awards, it’s especially rewarding.”

The full release from Unibroue regarding the victory is below.

Flying Dog Brewery Announces Field Notes Pale Ale

Flying Dog Brewery Announces Field Notes Pale Ale

Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland has announced the release of a new American Pale Ale with six hop varietals.

Field Notes Pale Ale is brewed with the brewery's "six favorite hops – Galena, Vojvodina, Nugget, Crystal, Glacier and Chinook – from this year's harvest," according to a release from Flying Dog.

All of the hops were sourced from Washington's famed Yakima Valley and hand-selected by Flying Dog's brewers.

The full release from the brewery is below.

About 75% of American hops are grown on a 600,000-acre slice of paradise in Washington State called Yakima Valley. A map of the region reads like a lupulin-laced Candy Land, with places like the Chinook Pass, Fort Simcoe, and Ahtanum Creek. Yakima is under a rain shadow – the Cascade Mountains to the west of the valley shield it from any moist Pacific weather – so the region’s farmers have had generations without much interference from Mother Nature. Hops plants grown in any other location on Earth typically take three years to mature to full yield. In Yakima, they only need two.

Founders Brewing Co. Announces Return of Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)

Founders Brewing Co. out of Grand Rapids, Michigan has announced the newest release in the brewery's 2018 Barrel-Aged series.

At long last, 2018 marks the return of one of the brewery's most popular releases: Canadian Breakfast Stout (more commonly referred to as CBS) will make its return to bottles sans the iconic "mountie" on the beer's label.

The full release from Founders is below.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Founders announced today that they will release Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS), an imperial coffee chocolate stout aged in maple bourbon barrels, as the final release in the 2018 Barrel-Aged Series. CBS is one of the most sought-after releases in the world. This is the second year in a row the brewery has released CBS

Fans may notice that CBS’s label is missing a key, iconic element this year. The Mountie has been removed but the feel of the original label is maintained with an image of a bucking horse against a forested background.

“We’ve been ramping up our barrel-aged program over the past few years and it’s allowed us to expand our offerings,” said President and Co-Founder, Dave Engbers. “We’re so excited to announce that CBS will be available for the second year in a row. The beer enthusiasts have been very vocal about their love for this beer and we’re happy we can accommodate. It’s what we love to do.”
