Mikkeller Raises Funds for Refugees with New Beer

Mikkeller Raises Funds for Refugees with New Beer

Mikkeller Beer has announced the release of HELP, a beer to raise awareness and funds for the Syrian refugee crisis.

100 percent of all proceeds from this beer will go to The Danish Refugee Council, an organization that helps displaced refugees – specifically, Syrian refugee children in Lebanon. It will be released via a charity event in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 18th.

While many breweries host events and donate profits to local and national charities, rarely do you see a beer that’s whole existence is based on this concept – especially for a crisis that’s so politically troubling in Europe as this one.

Here is a release from Mikkeller:

The project was inspired by a photo series in Aftonbladet by Swedish photographer Magnus Wennman.  A series of heart-breaking images showed sleeping or exhausted refugee children without a bed, a roof over their head, a homeland and in some cases without parents.

Beer Here: Creature Comforts Cosmik Debris

Beer Here: Creature Comforts Cosmik Debris

For the third time in as many weeks, Athens, GA-based Creature Comforts Brewing Company is debuting a new offering available wherever its beers are sold.

Cosmik Debris is the brewery's Double IPA, and if it's anything like the brewery's extremely popular Tropicália IPA, chances are you better grab it while you can.

Employing a delicious blend of 5 different hop varietals (Simcoe, Eureka, Mosaic, Cascade and the new Idaho 7), Cosmik Debris clocks in at 8 percent ABV.

Here is the release from Creature Comforts:

ATHENS (March 10, 2016) – Creature Comforts Brewing Company is bringing back seasonal release Cosmik Debris this March. For the first time, consumers will be able to enjoy Cosmik Debris in cans as it was previously only offered on draft. Cosmik Debris is the brewery’s second seasonal beer to be packaged in cans for release.

“Cosmik Debris is a modern take on a Double IPA that features more than five-and-a-half pounds of hops per barrel,” said Co-Founder and Brewmaster Adam Beauchamp. “The beer is released in March because the freshest and most choice hops are made available to brewers typically around February.”

Most Interesting Man in the World to be "XX-ed" out

Most Interesting Man in the World to be "XX-ed" out

After nearly a decade of fascinating exploits as the face of Dos Equis, Jonathan Goldsmith, or "The Most Interesting Man in the World", will lay his title to rest.

Dos Equis, owned by Amsterdam-based Heineken, nearly tripled its business over the course of the Goldsmith's reign, according to Vice President of Marketing at Dos Equis, Andrew Katz.

Goldsmith, at age 77, will be replaced by a younger actor deemed more relatable to younger generations.

"Culture has changed very dramatically" since the commercials debuted, Katz said. "Our Millennial drinker has changed quite dramatically, and the competition has only exploded with the advent of craft. We just want to make sure that the story evolves."

Goldsmith will have one last run over the next few months, primarily in Cinco de Mayo-themed ads.

While undoubtedly intriguing, the Most Interesting Man's taste in beer was comparatively uninspired. Here's to hoping the new Most Interesting Man will prefer a tequila barrel-aged Dos Equis lime gose.
