Baxter Brewing Stowaway IPA Reaches 100,000 Barrel Milestone

Baxter Brewing of Lewiston, Maine has reached its 100,000 barrel milestone for flagship IPA Stowaway, and will celebrate through September.

For full details, see the release below:

The month of August is about to be a HUGE one for us. Our flagship IPA Stowaway, is set for its 100,000th barrel of production! In honor of the moment, we'll be celebrating Stowaway throughout the entire month of September!

We’re a couple of weeks away from a pretty monumental moment, not only in the history of Baxter Brewing but in Maine’s craft beer industry: We’re about to brew our 100,000th barrel of Stowaway IPA! The beer that Downeast Magazine named Maine’s “best everywhere beer” and described as, “the black-and-orange cans are as ubiquitous as the beer is citrusy-piney delicious” has become just that: an industry staple. And nothing could make us prouder. Still accounting for more than 60% of our overall production, Stowaway has graced store shelves and draught lines around New England since January of 2011.

Many of our long-time accounts and wholesale partners are coming to Lewiston to brew commemorative batches with us at the end of August—photos to come—and be on the lookout for some special edition commemorative cans to hit the streets in September as well. Not to mention what we do best: some killer celebratory parties all around the Northeast!

Anchor Brewing Launches Brewers’ Pale Ale Galaxy Hop Blend

Anchor Brewing Co. has announced the launch of its Brewers' Pale Ale Galaxy Hop Blend, the third in the evolving hop series.

For all the details on this 5.3% ABV pale ale, see below:

Brew infinity and beyond!  Anchor Brewing Company is proud to launch Brewers’ Pale Ale Galaxy Hop Blend – an expressive pale ale with out-of-this-world hop flavor.  This is the third adaptation of Brewers’ Pale Ale, an evolving hop series at Anchor brewed by brewers, for brewers.

Grown only in a specific region of Australia, the Galaxy hop overflows with flavors and aromatics of clean citrus, passionfruit and peach.  Because of its unique and inviting flavor profile, the Galaxy hop is highly-coveted worldwide, causing the variety to be scarce to come by.  The origin behind Galaxy’s name is shrouded in mystery.  However, at Anchor, we attribute the title to its otherworldly taste.

Brewers’ Pale Ale Galaxy Hop Blend (5.3% ABV) is a crisp, easy-drinking pale ale with accentuated tropical fruit aromatics due to the Galaxy hop’s cosmic amount of essential oils – the highest percentage in the industry.  Samples are available upon request – just share an address for delivery!

This beer will be exclusively available in the Heavy Seas Taproom at the brewery on Friday, August 16, 2019 in 4 packs of 16oz cans and on draft.

Combining the flavors of chocolate and vanilla, Scoops is a milkshake IPA with an indulgent twist. Brewed with loads of chocolate and vanilla for decadence and sweetness, and lactose for a rich & creamy finish, Scoops is an IPA lover’s dessert dream come true.

"A rich, decadent Chocolate Vanilla Twist Milkshake IPA, this beer was brewed with imported English Maris Otter, Chocolate, Black, and Crystal malts along with a hefty portion of flaked oats," says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard. "Almost 10 lbs per barrel of milk sugar (lactose), more than a pound per barrel of imported cocoa nibs, and just the right amount (which is A LOT) of vanilla blend to make this brew silky smooth deliciousness. Oh, and don't forget the IPA part. We used only English hops to provide a unique earthy dry finish to balance the luscious flavors and make this beer surprisingly drinkable."
